I have a special love of Crown of Thorns, corona de espina. The plant holds a sacred place in the heart of Catholic Mexico. Pain and beauty are often intertwined in Catholicism.
These are the Crown of Thorns that grow on my terraza.
This rare plant has been in life since I was a child. A very special Crown of Thorns journeyed with me to New Mexico from California. Unfortunately, it spent a freezing night in Flagstaff and the plant died all the way back to the dirt. It arose, growing over time to four feet high and three feet in diameter. It thrived for years bringing much pleasure. After 15 years, its time was done and it returned to the dirt from which it grew. Its own cycle of life.
Crown of Thorns makes life richer, more beautiful and dangerous.
