I never could color within the lines.

I could never color within the lines.
My first-grade teacher was determined I stay within the lines. My hands were stubborn and independent. Art teacher to the rescue! “Stop. He sees something that we don’t. Let him draw what he sees.”
Life is about passion, and my passion has always been the arts.
As a child, I was a painter, a puppeteer, and a playwright. I made toy theaters and staged fabulous productions — designing the costumes, painting the sets, and playing all the parts myself.
As a young man, I received a BFA from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and an MFA in film directing from the College of Santa Fe. For most of my career, I created theater and arts festivals. I’ve always loved collaborating with other talented people to produce extraordinary events, and I have been fortunate to work with both emerging and established directors, designers, performers, and technicians.
But despite the demands of an exciting and challenging career, I always found time for my first love: creating visual art.
My journey — unexpected and joyous.
“Yes, and…” is my mantra. Representing affirmation and forward movement, they’re the two most important words in improvisation. I met my husband at the legendary Los Angeles comedy/Improv troupe, The Groundlings. Our life is spontaneous, and filled with love, surprise, and laughter. We were blessed to adopt and raise a wonderful son.
After living and working in Los Angeles and Santa Fe, New Mexico, we relocated to Puerto Vallarta, “Old” Mexico. The Bay of Banderas inspires me. The jungle is transcendent and mysterious, and the culture is warm and welcoming. I strive to capture the vibrant colors, ancient magic, and shimmering light of our new home.
My work is displayed in galleries here in Puerto Vallarta, and in the quaint villages of Tlaquepaque and Ajijic, as well as in homes in both Mexico and the United States.
Because I am curious and always learning, my work continually evolves.
